The Hidden God

There is a difference between knowing God through what others have said about Him and knowing Him through a personal encounter. It is possible to hear about God for years, read the Scriptures, and observe what He has done in the lives of others while still not having discovered the dimension of God connected to our own destiny. God calls us to Himself before He sends us to others, because what sustains our impact is not simply talent, knowledge, or ability, but the depth of the relationship we have developed with Him.

God can hide Himself without being absent. Some dimensions of who He is are not discovered through information alone, but through seeking, intimacy, mysteries, and the seasons we go through. Moses encountered a dimension of God through the mystery of the burning bush. David entered a valley where he moved from speaking about God to speaking directly to God. Certain seasons bring us into a place where God does not simply reveal what He can do, but reveals Himself to us in a deeper way.

The true pursuit, therefore, is not only the pursuit of God’s promises, but the pursuit of God Himself. Before the blessing, there is the God who blesses. Before healing, there is the God who heals. Before the fulfillment of a destiny, there is an encounter with the God who designed it. The right posture, a genuine desire to seek Him, and intimacy with Him prepare us to discover dimensions of God that cannot be received through the experiences of others. Those who truly know their God become strong and steadfast because their faith is built on the One they have personally encountered.
